Meet Gemma Peacocke
Gemma Peacocke, composer of Waves + Lines, lives in Princeton, New Jersey and grew up in New Zealand. She writes instrumental and vocal music, electronic music, and is interested in finding ways to seamlessly combine and move between these electronic and acoustic sound worlds.
Gemma is particularly interested in how music can amplify the voices of under-heard groups of people, and in 2016 worked with director Benita de Wit on her play Undrown'd about asylum seekers held in offshore detention centres. She's recently launched the Kinds of Kings female composer collective and has written for some fantastic artists and ensembles, including the JACK Quartet, the Tudor Consort and Echo Chamber.
Rubiks are thrilled that Gemma will be joining us in Melbourne for the Australian premiere of Waves + Lines, and we're counting down the days til her arrival! For more on Gemma, visit Gemma's website. 🎶✨
