Introducing the first of our wonderful guests for second self - Lotte Betts-Dean!
Australian mezzo soprano Lotte Betts-Dean has just completed a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music studying under Catherine Benson and Audrey Hyland. Her performance experience encompasses opera, oratorio, contemporary music, art song recital/chamber music, early music and non-classical collaborations. Prior to relocating to London, she received her BMus in 2012 from the Conservatorium of Music at Melbourne University, completed a Fellowship at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2014, and sang several principal roles in predominantly contemporary operas with state company Victorian Opera. She has studied in Milan (Accademia Teatro alla Scala), privately in New York, and at the 2016 Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt with Donatienne Michel-Dansac and the Vocalsolisten Stuttgart. Concert highlights with RAM have included various chamber music events, performances at the Aldeburgh Festival, Oxford Lieder Festival and a solo recital at Bristol's Colston Hall, as well as a masterclass with Sir Thomas Allen. Other recent highlights include performances at Wigmore Hall, Norfolk Festival, Handel House Museum, Australia House, St James' Palace and Dartington Festival. She is also a member of new music ensemble x.y.
Upcoming performances in the U.K. include appearances at St John's Smith Square, and at the Cheltenham and Buxton Festivals. She has also recently been selected to compete in the 2017 Das Lied Competition in Heidelberg, Germany.
