'Shades of Night' Premiere!

Rubiks are thrilled to share our newest work from the Pythia Prize collection! Sylvia Lim’s Shades of Night is the fifth work created through the Pythia Prize: Rubiks’ ongoing commission project aimed at addressing equity and gender representation in contemporary Australian art music. To celebrate this special online premiere, Kaylie & Tamara hosted an Instagram live with Sylvia, sharing more about the creation and process behind the work.

Shades of Night contemplates the strange beauty of nocturnal spaces. The work explores our perception in the dark, evoking the indistinct and elusive, the transient and introspective.

We’ve created a beautiful video of this work, with visual concepts from artist Allison Chhorn and videography from Chris Bennett (Underground Media). Alongside this we’ll be releasing a video interview with Sylvia, discussing her inspirations for this wonderfully mysterious work.
